I think you're answering your own question then
Get it removed, looked at and repaired properly. Choose an exhaust company and tell them how loud you want it, they then know how much deadening to put in.
I had a Kakimoto regu 06&R on my dc5 for years, covering probably tens of thousands of miles. The second owner did the same and it's now in the hands of its third owner with no repairs that I know of (feel free to correct me if you read this) and it still looks new.
I now have one on my fd2
I've not tried an RM01a to compare but I've tried a few others (on various k20 cars) and for me the kaki is the best system as it's silent most of the time but sounds like a jet when in vtec.
If chasing power figures go for a Js Racing 60rs or a custom 3" but they come with drawbacks IMO.
For daily use or track days where noise levels can be an issue, go for any of the Jasma approved system (whichever you like the look or sound of).
Different strokes for different folks. Everyone has a different noise tolerance too.
What I will like to add is, if one car has an OEM exhaust and another has a 3" custom, would there really be any difference in a quarter mile time at santa pod? I think not.
