Hello, I am getting codes P1166/P1167... so I replaced the Primary Sensor with a brand new one... but still getting an Engine Light 5 seconds after starting the car and the same codes.

Changed rear one too no joy.

Every DC5 I’ve had in the past changing the sensor for a new one always fixed it. Could it be a wiring issue?

There is also a possibility according to a previous owner that the engine at some stage could have been replaced with a K20A2, which I know uses a narrow band sensor. I’ve never been able to confirm this and it’s a 100% a DC5 ECU so I just ordered and fitted a wideband sensor.

Any help appreciated, tearing my hair out over it.

You can see the engine code near where the gearbox mounts.

I'd double check the wiring by checking for continuity between the plug and the ECU.

Thanks Sam,

If it was a K20A2 would this mean I would need to use a narrowband sensor or would the DC5 ECU mean that it would need to be a wideband, regardless?

Also, where the hell or how the hell would that wiring even be replaced I had a quick look and cannot figure out where it routes through etc. I know it goes into ECU some way but there are so many wires I wouldn't know where to start. There are no good specialists really over here in Northern Ireland I would be reluctant to take it to a normal mechanic without experience of these cars.

No, the wide band sensor could still be used as the DC5 ECU only uses wideband.

If you follow the wiring from the primary 02 sensor, it connects into a plug just before disappearing behind the subframe, I'd just double check that that's plugged in.
