    Rear caliper slider pins

Hello folks. Quick question for technical types who're familiar with working on ITR brakes: Copper Ease suitable lubricant for slider pins YES or NO? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Windscreen trim removal

Had a quick mooch on the search but couldn't see much. I have a nasty crack in the windscreen (courtesy of the completely naff tar and gravel-type road repairs...) and having had DC2 headaches previously thought I should check that Autoglass knew which parts to source... I noticed folks saying...

Stupid question... how do you drive a DC5?

It's not really a "stupid" question, it's fair enough. However, you should be aware that as someone more articulate than me(!) once famously said: "Here's the Type R and Honda say that the R apparently stands for "racing" and they're really not joking!!!" The DC5 and all the Type Rs are...

VTEC not engaging - EML/oil level?

Yeah I know it has been a while and I said I would report back. Was thinking it might assist anyone else with same symptoms diagnose the problem and hence the fix! Well, having been over the wiring the converter, VSS, fusebox blah, blah the EML would switch off as expected and then "randomly"...

VTEC not engaging - EML/oil level?

PS. The issue with oil volume/level was to do with low levels possibly leading to loss of VTEC as it might cause momentary pressure loss, so it won't engage - unless it was very low (as in disastrously) I can't see that being the case with mine, especially as have put in >5 litres.

VTEC not engaging - EML/oil level?

Thanks for thoughts folks - I know what you mean about fresh oil on the dipstick - it can be nigh on impossible to read with fresh clean oil. Double-checked for loss again, no oil leaks (well at least none that can readily be seen with an educated eye). Have had reader on the VSS issue, the...

VTEC not engaging - EML/oil level?

As per title, but not as it seems! Any help/experience appreciated. Yup, had a search about, but nothing quite matches - so here goes. Had intermittent VTEC headaches for a little while with no switchover at 6k accompanied by what sounds like misfire/rev-limiter sort of cutting out (quite...

    Garages in Shropshire

All good advice - don't discount J T Hughes though (main dealers in Shrewsbury). They have some competent mechanics there and people into DC2s, EK9s etc. There is even a chap on their staff from Whitchurch who has an NSX(!) For routine servicing i.e. non-specialist work including MOT etc. I...

If you had £1k to spend on mods..

Quicker? What on earth for? The thing is naturally aspirated and already develops 220 PS from just 2.0 litres...Honda have spent a fortune setting the thing up. Why not just drive it for a few months and get a proper understanding of what the thing is all about? It is a package and the...

Going for a blast - how do you drive your car on the road?

I am so pleased to read these posts amongst DC5 owners. The public road is for going safely from A to B, that's it... A DC5 is a seriously quick motor, no doubt about it and the only place to stretch it's legs is on a track day, or even at a sprint/hill climb in road-going class. I often...

    IACV screws. Size and pitch

Just a thought, but I suspect that you know (and if I understand your query - apologies of not!) that the screws you are referring to are the tamper proof ones a la Peugeot etc that look superficially like a torx? You have no real option, but to source yourself a set and then be very precise in...

    Fault code reader

Had a quick search around without much luck (may have used wrong terms?) Does anyone know if the OBD-2 readers widely available (eBay etc) will interpret and report the codes for a 2006 Facelift? Appreciate any info/experience anyone has with using them to diagnose EML lamp illumination...
