guys, found this in my car today, was wondering anybody knew what it is and what's it for?

guys, just bought a '02 dc5r, and now going to meddle with the ICE. problem is i realised that i don't have a parcel shelf at the back to cover my boot .. i remember in my dc2r before i had something like that.. was wondering if it's just me, or does it NOT come with it at all? thanx!
