Hi Guys,

I'm Barry and I'm based in the North East, Stockton on Tees.

I'm considering a DC5, 2002 in CW for sale. The car is way down south, so trying to do as much research as possible. The Reg is FB02 LDO. It's currently at 48.5k since import in 2007(460miles when imported as grade 6?)

It's being sold by a gent called Jason. Not sure if he's on the site but has been very helpful and happy to provide me with photos, spec and information on the car.

Does anyone know the car at all or could assist?

Thanks in advance

Barry

Don't ask randoms on teh internet for advice. Best to go see it yourself and get it inspected by a specialist.

Service history is important, and since the car has been in the UK for a very long time it's extremely important to check the condition of all the places where rust can develop - and budget for repairs.

Thanks Aleksboch,

I just thought I'd ask on here if the car was known? The gent that owns it has had it a year so thought its its lifetime in UK someone might know the vehicle.

The pictures look good, does not appear to have the usual corrosion, rolled arches or misaligned bumpers. I was looking at a car at DCY, all great, was garaged a its life but did have a tiny amount of rust bleeping on the O/S/R wing and 110000 miles. If it wasn't on the other end of the country from me I'd ask someone to come view the car and reason I'm asking if the car was known on the site.

I've always found specialist sites to be more a fond of knowledge, where at last a few people know the cars or owners.

Barry.

Ignore me - imported in 2007.
If it’s been here that long, it’ll have rust.

A milage of 460 when imported in 2007 and 5 years old is maybe a bit fishy? Maybe worth considering against the price.
Hi Matt,

I rang GT Torque. They state their records don't go back that far. However, the guy I spoke to did state that if they supplied paperwork as a grade 6, that does show that car would have been new here on arrival with delivery miles. And that if the MOT does show that mileage it would be correct.
Like everyone else I just don't want to pay good money to obviously find out its done twice the miles!

Grade 6 means the car could have up to 30k km on the clock but will more than likely have a little more than just delivery mileage.

Carvx I believe is the process for checking jdm cars history, also contact Baz are BHP Imports as he can do JDM history checks for a fee

You’re better off seeing the car in person and assessing it imo, if you like it enough the journey must be worth it

Thanks Carl,

I'll contact Baz then and see if he can check for me. From the pictures Jason has sent me the car looks very clean and well looked after.
It sounds like GT Torque also had the car back with them in 2016 so might call them again and see if they can shed any light on that.

Thanks

Baz

They had it in to sell by the sounds of it.

However, the first MOT and alarm installation where both in Newcastle. So I'm thinking that the car may have been imported by BHP imports and later sold by Torque GT in 2016 where the confusion is with initial import.

The gent selling has shown me a photo of paper work from Japan (in Japanese) exporting the car in 2007 with 671kms, so I work that out to be 416miles. The first UK MOT was at 480miles so guess that difference would be movement during the shipping and drive to MOT station etc.

Should have the auction sheet (top right will show the grade), near middle left the mileage in km when at auction, then a bimta will certify the mileage at the point of any conversion being made (with a conversation of 1.62) so 671 is 414 miles (as you say), the mileage between that and mot to be too and from, moving it about etc.

Ask for pics of all the docs imo (all the ones for the point of import) and verify it all

Thanks Carl,

I've spoken to Andy at BHP imports this morning.

With the MOT taking place in Newcastle at Quickstart garage and the alarm installed also in Newcastle he beleives the car to be one they imported.

Hes is going to check his files to see if he has anything on the car. He has also mentioned completing a VX check. He did mention in 2007 he does recall bringing in some cars with this type of low miles. That does make me more comfortable believing the cars been imported right by a reputable company.

The UK MOT history then backs up the clocks.
