Hey guys do you guys have problem with entering your registration plate on these insurers website and it comes up as a civic type r? Or any other model?

If so what did you do to correct this?

Thanks

I do that too, but it only shows up as a dc2 and not Dc5, got quoted by elephant today which was 4.5k, and I'm still thinking about if I should get it or not.

Jokes aside, any company are good?

Plenty of threads on insurance.

Why not use the specialist insurers, Greenlight, Adrian Flux, A-Plan, Sainsburys even.

I tried Sainsburys today they have changed underwriters on the 1st feb. they no longer have the DC5 on their system. i called them and they said they could pass my details to the underwriters and get a special quote but it would take a few days. i was sceptical about this as i didnt think they would be competitive if they had to do all that so told them not to bother.

BUT yes mine comes up as a civic type R

Don't use comparison sites.. don't use online database.. call up insurers so they have to enter it manually their end and make sure they have it down as "Honda Integra R". Anything else will invalidate the policy and you may be paid out less in a claim.

Try use a import specialist who knows what car it is.. I.e. brentacre, Greenlight, sky insurance

Also, have you checked to see what your car is registered as on the log book? Mine came through and it wasn't correct, listed as pickup or something stupid.

As above though, call around, don't use online stuff.

We specialise in insuring Japanese Import vehicles and can happily help with a quote. As the DC5 does not have a UK ABi insurance code rating a lot of mainstream insurers cannot trace the vehicle properly.

If you wanted us to look at a quotation for you and you meet our criteria we should be able to offer you a competitive price.

We can also cater for modifications if you wanted to do any.

Kind Regards
Neil

Got a quotation early from a underwriter for 700, they are called Lloyd latch-ford, any had any pass dealings with them? Gona call up sainsbury and green light later and see what surprises they got for me, tried Adrian flux and their price was too high.

I went with Sainsbury's as Greenlights quote was really high for some reason, higher than I was paying on my very high spec Nissan Skyline R33 GTR a few years ago which was a shame as I have never been with them in the past and heard good things but at my age with no crashes, points etc I was expecting good things.

Sainsbury's were by far the lowest for my car for my partner and I.

Hi Carl, did you get in with Sainsbury's after the 1st Feb and the change in underwriters?

Just starting the process of ringing around now, spoke to Greenlight today and they came in a bit expensive, car only has an exhaust on and is otherwise bog standard. Came in that much more I'd probably rather put it back to standard.

16yrs NCB with no penalties and parked on a private driveway overnight in a low crime area and it came in at £499, it was costing me less than half that for a concourse VX220 Turbo with a £16.5k agreed value a couple of years ago for comparison....

Hi mate

I took my insurance out in September so before the new underwriters it seems :-(

I am shocked by Greenlight recently, don't seem to be competitive at all.

They couldn't even get within £100 of Pace Ward when I renewed.

34, driveway parking, 6000 mile limited policy, no commuting, 1 total loss last year, 3 points. I paid £470.

Who's that Chris Greenlight?

I will look at / consider Paceward when my renewal is due

I was with Greenlight when I crashed my S2000. Their renewal initially came in just under £800 and after a few calls it came to around £600.

Pace Ward and Keith Michaels were both under £500, but KM didn't return an email, so went with PW who were more pro-active with getting my custom. I know from the MLR that they are good in all circumstances, including claims, so I went with them.

On my DC5, no-one could get near Greenlight for me. 30, 12 ish years of NCB, lots of mods, £400.

I do live in a leafy part of the world with a garage though.

Just renewed with Flux, can honestly say I'm over the moon with the policy.

All mods declared, 10k miles per year with protected ncb, legal protection etc. For £281 fully comprehensive.

Added flex drive for £19.99 meaning I'm covered on any car up to £20k fully comp. Can also add an agreed valuation for £39.99 per year.

They've come up trumps for me, hopefully it'll be repeat custom next year....
