Chain tensioner

Hi everyone,

Has any of u change chain tensioner yourself. how hard is it to do? what need's to be watch out? as i am thinking of doing it myself and when i am looking at the manual, it just show a few steps and its done. is it that simple??

Yes it's very easy to do, just make sure you have a pin or something of sorts to keep the chain tensioner retracted to get the chain loose.

Sorry guys this might sound silly but why we need to do this and how often we need to do it for?

if it wears out or becomes noisy, it is not something that needs doing frequently at all, some /most cars will prob never have one changed

What kind of noise does it make when it is worn or needs changing? Iv got a small noose recently, like a whine when you have a loose cam belt but not that loud, only does it when it's warm?

Any ideas?

That'll be the auxiliary belt not the chain (at least I've never heard a metal chain whine... :eek:). As a matter of precaution should change your aux belt, it leaves quite a mess if it goes...
