Changing Brake Discs

Swapped my pads out plenty of times with track / road use etc but now I need to change out the front/rear discs.

Heard I might need a press to press the disc off the axle or is there another process of getting the dam things off

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

rubber mallet if you want to keep them, metal hammer if you dont..............

they may not need any force though once you get the securing screws out

You might need an impact screwdriver to loosen the screws that hold the disc to the hub, they get very rusted in and you'll just mash the heads with a normal screwdriver.

Once those are out, I didn't have any problem knocking the disc off with a rubber mallet. If it's really hard, run a longer bolt/screw of the same gauge through the retaining hole of the disc to push against the hub.

Your other issue may be undoing the caliper bolts, which also stick badly. The issue with these is really one of getting enough leverage - with the car jacked up, it's difficult to get something long enough on to the bolt head. Under a ramp/pit I imagine it would be pretty easy with a decent power bar.

Did this yesterday.

Impact driver required for sure!

The rest was pretty easy.

Although the pads wouldnt fit with squealers on so had to snap them off?
