"Click" when coming on/off throttle

Haven't had chance to go and have a fiddle with the car yet, but before I do I thought I'd see if anyone had come across anything similar before and might be able to help narrow down my search.

I was out earlier with the windows down, and noticed a sort of high pitched single click when coming on/off throttle. It was fairly quiet and at first I thought it could be the butterfly valve snapping shut, is this likely?

Is there anything else it could be?
1) CV Joints. Normally I think this would be a persistent clunking and be associated more with turning?
2) Engine mounts in their way out?
3) Diff hooking up or decoupling?
4) Nothing, this is normal slack in the system

Thoughts very much appreciated. I'll update back if I find anything obvious

Is it a metallic click as in something metallic loose sounding or clunking upon the on off throttle or more of a non metallic loose part click?

When I had a clunk/knock upon on off throttle it was a loose caliper and I had to re-do the bolts as it was knocking upon acceleration and letting off the throttle as the weight distributed

Ive had this sort of sound for 4 years, still can‘t find it.
I‘ve changed, coilovers, droplinks, top mounts, calipers, arb bushes, balljoints, both driveshafts and engine mounts, its still there. Learned to live with it now 😂

I had something similar ages ago, changed my clutch and it went away. I'm assuming it was the subframe that was moving that was clicking.

May be worth while checking your sub frame bolts.

Ball joints? Mine made a impossible to find click/clunk on/off throttle, several specialists couldn't find source. Decided to upgrade to RCAs and see if it cured the noise; it did :)

Get Buddyclub ones as the boots/dust covers of Hardrace ones split after a few months, so have put Buddyclub ones on now (look better too :)

Thanks for all the advice above.
Tried retorqing all the subframe bolts but made no difference. Can't find anything loose in the bay knocking either.

My gut instinct tells me it has to be drivetrain related, as it happens only with the initial torque input.

I've now noticed that occasionally I get a single clunk instead (definitely passenger side) when pulling away with lock. I suspect this is all related, and appears to match the symptoms described below:
http://www.itr-dc5.club/forum/index.php?/topic/40152-clunk-when-pulling-away

Next step is to get the car up in the air and try and replicate the noise by playing with the driveshafts, see if I can confirm that it's the CV joint, as it proved to be in the above thread. Will report back when I have info
