Excellent info.
Is this all weighed by yourself or taken from other websites?
Have u got a running figure of weight saving, and a target in mind ?

I do feel that getting the weight down on a dc5 is a priority as the performance is good just the car weighs a bit, at least compared to what I'm used to which is a CRX

Yeah these are all weighed by myself (except the F7 lcas as i didnt weigh mine before fitting them. )
When i got the car standard it was 1200kg, when it was corner weighted not so long ago it was 1145kg, still with full interior.
I've just fitted the kevlar seat, taken the rear plastics and seats out, so should currently be about 1115kg, i want to try and get under 1100kg, which could be done easily by removing the a/c, but i know i'll miss it in the summer. But then i could push to about 1050kgs by removing a few other things aswell, still got carpet, airbag, passenger seat, door cards etc but then after that i think you start getting to a place where the car cant get put back to standard if i ever chose to sell it, cutting and drilling the pointless bits of metal about the place lol.

Fantastic write up and info. I'll be soon doing this to mine and seeing the potential weight saving is more motivation especially if I can get her under 1100kg as I'll be knocking on door of 250 bhp/ton

Weighed the car today after stripping some weight out, and it was 1107kg, with 1/4 tank. (1145kg last time) So obviously now im eager to get that 7kgs out 😂 So i Removed the passenger airbag which was 2.8kgs, and now looking at what else i dont really need 😂

But looking at the differences in corner weights since last time it was weighed is quite surprising, considering i've mainly only removed weight from the rear, and drivers seat, theres effectively an extra 10kgs weight over the passenger front wheel, but 28kgs less over passenger rear, so next time i do the alignment i'll have to do the corner weighting again.

Thats hell of a difference lol, and i still have full front interior, a/c etc.

Im tempted to go all the way and remove everything else, which in my head i could probably get about another 50-60kg out easily. But i also like my a/c, carpet, door cards etc 😂

the door skins should go, there fairly thick, but depends on how hard core you wanna go,

full race car strip would be cool, but impractical on the road.

power steering/AC condensor etc weigh a fair bit too.

i think that wheel weight should be lbs mate, there's no way a 17in oem wheel and tyre weighs 19.5kg!

19.5lbs is 8.8kg which would be about right.

8.8KG for a wheel and tyre is seriously light. A light weight 15" wheel and tyre would struggle to match that

hmm yeah could be... my factory mitsu 15in wheels were 8.6kg for just the wheel, they were pretty damn heavy for 15s. I went to aftermarket wheels at about 6.5kg each.

I would say 9kg for the 17in DC5 oem wheel without a tyre would be about right. I don't know much about tyre weights though.

From a guy on here in 2009-

""I have weighed a DC5 alloy and it was between 8.5 and 9kg (I cant remember the exact figure sorry).
Also my 7.5 x 17 Rota Torque was indeed approx 2kg lighter.""

one day i'll get some desmond regamaster evos, pretty much my dream wheel.. light as fornicate
Hell yeah... I love the look of OEM but they are heavy, but they can take a lot of abuse so will always keep a set for track :)

Any ideas on battery weights? I'm sure you can get some performance ones at 5/7kgs. Unsure what a standard battery weight is?
