I know everyone praises how good Greenlight is but has anybody actually needed to claim for an accident?

Thanks

I also had brilliant service from Neil on the forum, good price and professional service.

But......I had an accident in my car on the 26th of August. The company Markerstudy who deal with the claim and assess the car have done nothing for 7 weeks. I have chased my claim up with an email or phone call every couple of days.

They were waiting for the vin number of the car for about 2 weeks. Only to have an email today explaining the original engineers were unable to provide a value for the vehicle due to its specialist nature and so it has been handed to a different company. Why wouldn't they have the correct engineers in the first place?

To me 7 weeks is a ridiculous time for a claim with barely any contact or updates. I have done all the chasing and with several complaints later i am still without my car.

Not happy.

What do you guys think?

Thanks Lewis

That is unusual normally a total loss is normally paid within 2-3 weeks of the write off.

The engineers used to value/assess the vehicle are always independent (so they are not biased towards the insurance company) and are taken from a national list. The independent engineer who valued the vehicle should of said when taking the booking they were not able to process it. Basically the insurer type in your postcode and select an engineer local to you from the national databse to inspect the vehicle

The insurer have to use independent engineers so that they can give a completely unbiased view. I have requested that the engineer in question not be used from the list for any future valuations on Greenlight Customers and can only apologise for their oversight.

The Engineers job is to value the vehicle and confirm if its repairable or total loss. The insurer then offer/pay the amount that the engineer stated. You should not have to wait this length of time for the payout on the vehicle.

Markerstudy are normally good on our claims, here are a couple of links to claims that we handled for the Focus ST forum that im also the contact for: (We dont actually get many claims on the DC5's hence why our rates on them are quite competitive so i used the ST's as an example)

The second post is a claim that i helped with personally. The customer PM'd me via the forum at 10pm on Friday night asking for help. Luckily i was at home and able to access my PM's i helped him get the car recovered and inspected. The car was hyrdolocked and needed a new engine which the engineer confirmed....Rather than replace with a standard ST engine i suggested the customer try Jamsport and see if they could rebuild the current engine with uprated parts, after speaking to jamsport the cost of the uprated engine internals and parts were actually cheaper than a stock engine so the insurer authorsied the repair via jamsport. So the customer got a 300hp+ conversion back rather than a standard engine and it worked out the same cost to the insurer as a standard unit....Everyone is a winner.

When myself or any greenlight staff member sell a policy we want to make sure the customer gets the service paid for.

If you Drop me a PM with your reg number and i'll get on the case for you today personally and get it sorted (i know you sent the V5 log book in which we processed and sent via Special Delivery to the insurer on the 3rd October, they will of received this on the 4th October so now they have this they will be in a position to settle the claim very quickly).

Either way to wait 6 weeks for the payout is not acceptable and i will be following this up with the necessary parties.

If ever you get any problems/complications im personally here to help so you can always PM me questions, queries or request for assistance.

Cheers
Neil
