help with new hd

[C&S Evo7]

I bought a new hd for my pc (to use as a second drive)
I also want to use it as a external hd for my laptop so i bought a USB-IDE/SATA adaptor with a power supply.

my problem is the disc doesn't mount, i assume because its not formatted but how the hell do i format it if i can't see it???


It does appear in device manager, when i look at properties and volumes and populate i can see the size but it says not initialised (I assume as its not formatted)

How do i format the disc????

goto >START>control panel>administritive tools>computer management

double click storage then disk management

right click you new drive which should be in the list and you should be able to partition and format the drive from there.
