I have spoken to Gareth at AGP Motorsport in Swindon about using the Hondata ECU and he is confident he can get me one this month, don't know all the details yet but vtec should be at 5200 revs and rev limit at around 8800 revs and BHP at around 235-240 bhp, oh and finally cost is circa £300. When i get some more info I will post it here.

Hi,

Thats interesting, will have to see the dyno graph to beleive it first

And for only £300 =D>

Are they using a DC5 for this, or is it an EP3, just a thought

In my opinion, they must also have other bits on the car as well, but thats my mind :?

As far as I know, that is with induction kit only as the DC5 already has better cams that EP3 and 4-2-1 exhaust but when I get some more facts I will post, oh and when I have it fitted I am going to RR it before and after and I will puy these up as well.

Has that Gareth come up with the goods yet?

I spoke to him a few months back and I must say 240bhp does sound very ummm, exciting!

Right guys,
This is the latest news on the Hondata ECU. Doug from Hondata is in the UK from the 25th Sept to the 2nd Oct and if you contact him via email on the Hondata site he may well be able to sort your ECU for you, he says he is going to do mine, so I will keep you all informed.

Hi,

Hope all goes well, will be interesting in seeing the results

Just a word of advice  When changing to another ECU from the OEM one. The new ECU will be more agressive and will not have the protection functions of the OEM ECU  The two functions that come to find are, at high RPM the Honda unit over fuels to protect the engine from damage, also when the engine gets very hot, it retards the ignition again protecting the engine :?

To help combate these effects, the advice I was given, was to fit the lower temp Thermo/Fan Switch with a diff rad cap  Thesse help to reduce the normal running temp of the engine.

You may want to check this out with Hondata as well :!: waiting for the result...

Rabid Fanatics

It has been brought to my attention that there are a bunch of rabid DC5 fanatics frequenting this board in need of fix of HP.

Fear not, we can help.

First of all check out the dyno plots here:

http://www.hondata.com/k20arelease.html

This is a dyno of a DC5 type R engine with three ECUs.

The Blue is the stock ECU
The Green is the RSX-S EP3 K20A2 reflash
The Red is the program optimised for the DC5 ITR

After a Jackson racing header and cold air intake was added, the car dynoed at 233 wheel hp. This is not displayed on these dyno charts

MJ is correct in saying the car runs rich at higher RPMs. The ITR reprogram runs leaner above 8000 rpm. The ignition is also advanced and cam timing advanced.

I would not recommend a lower temp thermostat. Run the car too cold and the car adds fuel. We never dyno at less than 180 F.

Thanks for the info,

Did not know about the thermo state issue, I was told by others it was important when running either a Mugen or Spoon ECU :!:

See you soon

Just spoken to Doug at Hondata and I will be having my ECU reflashed this Friday, I believe Doug is going to RR before and after so hopefully we will see some good gains and I will let you guys know how it all goes. If I get a copy of the dyno I will post it for all to see :D I can't wait :!:

No idea m8 :(

I know that Doug from Hondata is back in the UK from the 14th December for a short stay :!: To my knowlegde, a DC5 ECU is slightly different, hence the upgrade needs to be done on your orginal one, but I could be wrong :?
