Hi

I have been talking with Doug from Hondata, here is his comments for the DC5 chaps:

"We modify your ECU (should be 37820-PRC-013). It is a little more involved as it takes about 45 minutes to add some additional circuitry.
The results are good – slightly better than the EP3. http://www.hondata.com/k20arelease.html.

We do not modify the emissions system, so the engine check light is just as likely to come on with our upgraded ECU as it is with your stock ECU. Check out the US Catalytic converter. Compared to the Japanese Cat, it is huge (and I suspect freer flowing. I am sure you will find someone in the US willing to sell.

The response to the seminar has been very good. I might have to schedule the flash upgrades for a later time – or alternately ask you to leave the car overnight at the hotel while I perform the upgrade."

I asked about the Cell check light issue, with replacing the CAT, as you can see there change does not knock out this issue. Also worth noting that he would require your DC5 over night to do the upgrade.

My only real concern is that it is a modification to the OEM ECU and not a replacement, that means it a perminate change. If I was an EP3 owner I would be very worried, as this would viod any warrentry.

He would still love to see DC5 chaps at the event, as he has said "For the life of me, I cannot understand why Honda has programmed the ECU the way they have. I’m not complaining. Gives me an opportunity to make some power"

I would be very interested in learning about their Fully Mapable ECU, as this would fit better into my long term plans.

I'm still talking with him, I'm tring to see when he will be back in the UK and will try to arrange a meeting with him, hopefully just for DC5 owners!!

Mike
