Hi guys! was wondering how efficient is the standard security immobiliser on the teg and what would be the most effective and simplest way to protect the dc5. Anyone could recommend me any alarm systems which is simple to install or maybe how efficient are these steering wheel locks? couldn't find any thread on the forum  thanks!

your car should have a cat 1 alarm immob fitted as std to comply with sva.
a disklock is an excellent deterent and very very difficult to remove, even in a workshop full of power tools, they always come out top in the tests
biggest pain is they are large to store, its well worth the greif tho.

Get a decent car alarm fitted, like a Clifford system with Blackjax anti jac.

to be honest a decent cat 1 alarm and immob with added security of a disklock etc is a good deterrent.

However if they really want your car then doesnt matter what you have on it they will find a way

I bought a disklok bag on ebay, Very useful indeed. It has a velcrow backing and attaches itself nicely to the boot carpet 8)

Tbh the best thing that you could get is a tracker fitted as if they break into your house to get the keys then a disk lock is 100% useless.

Mine gets put in the garage and then my dads work van or one of the other cars parked infront of the garage too. Keys would be hard to find too! Plus the CAT 1 alarm :)

Cheers

I'd replace the OEM wheel with a racing type... then get a quick release boss.. and remove the wheel each time you leave the car 8)

I had one of those on my last car but it brought the steering wheel approx 3inches closer to you which I didn't like, it was the snap off type that you get from demon tweeks. Don't know if all of them are like that?

I came out of my house a couple of weeks ago and found the drivers door half open. Nothing was taken but my Defi -link display was hanging down and the contents of the glove compartment were on the seat and carpet  . There was no damage to the car at all and exactly the same thing happended to the Mercedes next door, again without any signs of a forced entry :?

The forensics came round 3 days later (better later than never I suppose  ) and told me exactly how they got into the car. I'm not posting on here how they were able to do it, but it's a very easy way and doesn't require any expensive specialist equipment. The only way round this would be to fit deadlocks in my particular case.
