Idle issue

I've recently fitted an engine on my dc5 after finishing the install I started it up, the car started to rev hunt which I thought it would be the idle control valve. I cleaned it up and refitted it, started the car and it's still rev hunting around 2k to 3k. Any advise on what the issue could be.

I had this issue recently but decided to replace the IACV in the end.

When you cleaned it up did you unscrew the 2 torx screws and remove the motor. That gives you access to the spindle which cam now test to see if its spinning freely. It will need cleaned up too. After its dried up it may not still spin freely so give it a squirt of grease.

Hope that helps. They can definitely work after a clean but I think they will eventually have a life span where you'll need to replace it with a new one. Unfortunately they're very expensive for what they are.

I didn't undo the 2 torx screws, I'll give that a try thank you for the help
