When i had my DC5 serviced by Honda in macclesfield they put in Esso Ultron oil, searching on the internet reveals this is 5W-40 Fully Synth.

When i went to my local honda (Holdcroft) they said they only sell the 15W-40 semi synth and thats the right one for my car.

So im just wondering what the effects of mixing oil are.... I am planning on going to a trackday next weekend and want to know what oil to top up with lol

Don't do it!

My advice, provide the Dealer with the oil at the service.

The price Dealers charge for oil is OTT!!

A good dealer wont mind you doing this.

Use Fully Synthetic as well.

No!

I would advice against it. Different brands of oil with the same viscosity rating, may have different additives etc...

right ok.. so what your basically saying is... if i cant find the matching oil that they put in then i need to drain it all out and replace with my choice of oil....

and if i do replace the oil should i stick to 5W-40 fully synth still?

cheers
