K20a Octane Queries

Hello all,

I was looking around the forums and had come across a plethora of different answers to this question, but I have a DC5 Type R on the way from Japan to Canada, and wanted to ask if anyone could confirm or correct the information I've found on what Octane of gasoline the K20a in the DC5R will take with a stock ECU and tune?

From what I understand, the k20a will take 98-100 RON which roughly converts to 94-95 Grade in the US/Canadian System.

I would imagine a DC5 would be quite a rare car in Canada?

The RSX is pretty common here since there’s a Canadian exclusive made here which is the premium with standard heated seats and mirrors and leather interior, though the Type R I’d imagine isn’t that common

Would I perhaps be able to get away with using 93, or does the onset of knock start at 93?

Just use an octane booster if you cannot source the correct octane fuel in Canada.

Why go though the costs of importing one then cheap out on a tank of fuel.

Don’t put rubbish fuel in, they don’t like it. Here in the UK I only use Shell V-Power which is 99 Ron.
