KPro v4 with pioneer app radio (v3 vrs v4 in general)

Hi there,

I'm looking to get a KPro in the near future, been offered a couple from members on here (v2 and v3) however I have been in contact with eurospec and they are now selling a v4.

How much better are the v4's? I've been told they have Bluetooth which can sync to iPads / double din stereos etc and I could display gauges on my double din / iPad?

Has anyone else managed to do this and use a KPro v4 to display gauges. Are they worth the extra as opposed to getting a second hand v2 / v3.

Been offered a replacement ecu with a v3 mounted onto it so could sell my standard prc ecu and then pay to get the car properly mapped. Only downside is that it won't be brand new; how often do kpro's fail as I would obviously get warranty buying a brand new v4 from eurospec?

Any help on the matter would be great!

Carl.

Do you need the K-Pro and not the K100? would you play with the settings much etc, I don't know too much about the differences apart form the K100 (which my car has) means only mappers can access if and change things) whereas the K-Pro's can be plugged in and accessed by pretty much anyone, this worries me as I wouldn't have a clue about what I would be doing.

For gauges / data I get as best I can onto my head unit using an ODBC connector plugged in and blue toothed to my android head unit.

I don't necessarily need the K-pro and at the moment I am just weighing up my options as I am going to get the car remapped in the near future. However, I would maybe like to have a play and see what's happening behind the scenes. And I could always keep a base map which is produced by the mapper and possibly make my own maps for practise; I do software at work so hopefully I could pick the Hondata stuff up quite easily. I wouldn't want to be limited and be locked out of something I have purchased so don't think I would want to go for the K100 - but it obviously all depends on the price at the end of day!

So is your K100 Bluetooth enabled allowing you to display on the headunit or are you using a Bluetooth ODBC plug to display to the headunit? What would you say the refresh rate is and is it pretty accurate? What stereo do you have too?

Cheers,
Carl.

Hi mate

No my K100 isn't but I do use a Bluetooth ODBC plug in the drivers footwell connected by Bluetooth to my headunit and things show live. I have not seen any delay and so when rev'ing the gauge on the stereo runs at the same time as the speedo etc.

I have an Eonon G2150F Headunit mate (https://www.eonon.com/Android-Car-GPS/2-Din-GPS-Navigation/G2150F.html) The Navigations really good and the headunit also

Did you have to install an app or something to your phone and mirror it to the headunit; do you have any pictures of the displayed info? Would be nice to see how it looks and works.

I've got the following headunit so I could possibly produce something similar although I think I would need an app to display gauges and mirror it onto the head unit?

What sort of Bluetooth OBD plug are you using?

Cheers,
Carl

Hi Carl I'll get pics of it all tomorrow for you and can do some videos if you like. The head unit came with the torque app pre installed and I use that mate.

Drop me a pm with an email address or something and I get some pics/videos or something.

It's a really good setup, if I remember too I can also set the fuel tovwhen full so it tells me what's left til the tanks empty.

Main things I use it for is revs, speed, engine temp, intake temp and a few more interesting things all on gauges :)

Carl

Ps you should be able to get it on there, if needed and you can load android apps I could send you a copy of mine if I can get it off

Hi Matt, did you manage to get anywhere with it? What Pioneer unit have you got? I've got an AVH-3500DAB.

I've updated the firmware and bought the following:

Solution 1

To 'mimic' the Bluetooth of the Kpro v4:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B011O69946/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

To interface my iPhone via HDMI and USB to my stereo:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lightning-Digital-AV-Adapter-Lightning-to-HDMI-Cable-for-Apple-iPhone-7-iPad/332416817736?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

HDMI to RCA AV input to the stereo
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N647I67/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (this is to be able to HDMI to AV input from my phone to the stereo display - mirroring my iPhone)

Solution 2

Same unit to mimic Bluetooth

To interface my iPhone via VGA and USB to my stereo:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lightning-To-Vga-Adapter/162726392989?hash=item25e33fb49d:g:yToAAOSwonBZ8ePv

VGA to RGB input to the stereo:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CD-IV203-AppRadio-VGA-Interface-Cable-Adapter-Kit-iPhone-5-6-Compatible-2014-AVH/142018758891?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I tried both setups connecting to the RGB input and to the RCA input but none seem to work. The appradio app is excrement; nothing seems to work or mirror my iPhone screen on the double din.

Hi mate did you manage to get it mirrored on displayed on a double din? I suppose once I get my mirror'ing sorted it'll work but it would be nice is it could be directly communicating with the stereo?

I did also purchase the dash command app which seems very good; similar to the Bluetooth diagnostics from the kpro and that works and displays information on my phone.

Cheers,
Carl.
