hi all

i found out my rear brakepad is nearly wore out.
i have no clue why the rear pads will wear out quicker than the front. does anyone have an experience? i'm thinking of getting a Mugen Street pads (in Gold color). i hav heard of the Mugen 'Black' pads is for track racing use and the working temperature is from 100c to 800c. anyone knows the racing pads will have any problem for normal street use?

cheers

Andre don't go for the Racing Pads unless you are doing loads of T/days.

If you replace the rears replace the fronts too, so they are the same manufactuer.

You havent been driving around with the handbrake on?  or doing loads of handbrake turns :p

RE: PADs

Hi Andre,

I've done 24k miles in mine and 4 track days and I still haven't worn out my pads. I'm not sure what you are doing to your car or the previous owner but that sounds like serious wear.

I guess I engine brake more than you.

hi jonster

um... i have no idea what the previous owner done with the first 4,000 miles. took my car to dealer & they told me the rear pads still got 75% left & 3 - 5k miles left in front with 10k miles on the clock.
i was shocked as well. mayb u wont believe how easy i take it on the road & how often i use the engine brake... :?

Same problem here on (well not a problem yet) my EK9..my rears are wearing quicker than the front and I'm not one for handbrake turns..haven't been on track either..

Andre - have you tried looking a Project Mu or Endless pads? I'm possibly looking into getting some when I'm out in HK in November.

Project Mu - http://www.project-mu.co.jp/e/product.html
Endless - http://www.endless-sport.co.jp/
Hi Li,

Thanks for your info. I think my pads can't wait til Nov... :? as I will go for a few more trackdays in next two months... just ordered some parts from Yosi at J-Garage. They should arrive in a few weeks later. :p

Do you do alot of trail-braking? Lightly stepping on the brake to slow yourself down slowly? How about braking on hilly decents? I'm not exactly sure where I'm heading with this, but I work at a car manufacturing company in engineering design and can find out from the brakes department. (i'm in Electrical Engineering)

I just asked.

Most cars have a set brake force distribution between front and rear, unless you're driving a utility car or a truck.

I don't know why you would have more rear brake wear. Only other reason is this: The previous owner had already changed the front brake pads, so the rears look like they wore faster than the fronts because the fronts are actually newer than the rears.

But you already had them checked at a dealership before then, didn't you?

well i have NFI :(
