Okay time to start a techie thread and see what other peoples views are...

I fitted a ugen CAI to my DC5 at the weekend... on the RR managed to gain 2bhp.. not quite up to the promises!!!

Now i suspect this is because the Mugen CAI is designed to be used with the Mugen bumper with the cutout for the air feed ???

So do i run the Mugen CAI with the original OEM air pick up which appears to take air from behind the front light OR

Has anyone used the Spoon drop in filter with the OEM airbox and had good results?? I can't find any claims/results from using a Spoon drop in filter

Anyone ?

May have been because the feed tubing had come out the box arrgghh so all my runs on the RR may have been in vain !

Did the manual say to cut the feeding tube? Because the original tube is not long enough u will need to cut it and tape it up so that it will be longer to lock on the box. Use aluminium tape to do that.

Nope the original pipe stretches enough now...

The problem with the Mugen seems to be that the positioning of the intake scoop is just above the radiator so in fact its sucking in more air but this air is still relatively warm and so whilst helping slightly its not helping as much as it could...

I was thinking maybe some bendy tubing poking further over the radiator may help to get cold air as the car drives along rather than warm air over the radiator...

If i remember rightly when i tested before the coldest air was actually at the back of the engine bay where a Blitz or a K&N would sit.. this having better density cold air drawn in.... but not having the ram effect of a CAI...

Tricky...
