hey!
I have a 2005 ITR, I would like to keep the stock ECU. I was able to buy a 02-04 Rsx type S ECU, if I get kpro installed on it, would it work perfectly fine?
Did some research, can’t seem to fine a definitive answer!
Thanks in advance

Hi there

It's been a long time since I was on these scene as such but I am 90% sure that an RSX Type-S ECU for the K20A2 engine wont work in a JDM DC5 with the K20A engine. If the main goal here is to keep the OEM ECU as is and have a Kpro then source a spare that's already running a KPRO or do as I did and have a K100 (all depends if you plan to mess with the map etc yourself).

I’ll give it a shot. My best bet is in the UK, im in Canada and finding specific Type R parts are very rare, very expensive! I appreciate the response, I couldn’t find a straight answer.

I am in the UK and regularly visit the US and fully get that as I have seen some of the prices going too and from recently.
If you struggle to find anyone willing to ship one from here but find one suitable I would be happy too ship it for you, I will also keep my ears open for anyone selling one.

I see your JDM DC5 is a facelift (FL) , this adds another level of complexity as the facelift (FL) ECU has a factory immobiliser, whereas the pre-facelift (PFL) ECU does not.
This means an FL ECU requires the car's key to be coded to it, making them non-interchangeable without further modifications, so the facelift ECU is not a direct plug-and-play replacement for a pre-facelift model :-(

Dependant on what you want from the car I would personally save as much money as you can by getting a Hondata K100 circuit board added to your stock ECU to convert it into a reprogrammable system. You can always revert (not a simple process) but whomever does the mod could/should know how to revert it by removing and re-installing an oem board.

Basically in short a K100 converts a factory ECU into a reprogrammable system by requiring the installation of a board into the original ECU, but the negative is that once a K100 is installed, the original board is no longer usable on its own and the only way to "revert" is to have the K100 board physically removed from the ECU and then re-install the original, stock ECU.

That said I don't think you'd ever want or need to revert tbh if you went ahead.

if it’s like the rsx here, most people just disable the immobilizer and let the green flashing icon on the cluster do its thing. But I feel like that’s not too much of a concern for myself personally, but if you happened to find an ECU please message me! Are there any sites you guys use over there for used stuff, facebook marketplace?

Not sure about that one I am afraid as I had a PFL not a FL so didn't have that concern. I have been away form the DC5 and whole JDM scene for about 6yrs now so I am not up to date with where to source parts (unless direct from Japan), you could always reach out to a friend of mine as he may be able to source a second hand ECU for you (with or without the board fitted). If you want me to ask I will and if he can I will pm you his details.
