Hey,

Does anyone know where to get some rear arch repair panels. So a body shop can cut out the surface rust and weld in new metal?

I don't think you can get them, your best option is to find a breaker who's got a shell they'd cut up for you. Else they'll have to custom fabricate it...

I am still in touch with him personally since the DC2 forum, he has a lot of shells there at present and is about to break his own car on 53K. I will drop him a text for you later and see what he has, the only issue is that he is in the UK until next tues then away for 3 weeks as I have some parts sitting there I will be buying off of him

I had a new quarter panel after a scrape last year and I suggested this to the body shop and then told me I was stupid 😂.

Best bet (imo) is a quarter panel from Honda. Not cheap mind. Think they're about 400 plus vat each side maybe more now since Brexit 😂

If they are avail then this is by far the bets way as then you know the panels are complete and mint and new :)

This is going to turn out to be quite an expensive job . Can't see any other option though.

I'm in Kent mate. It's not even that bad has a few bits of surface coming through.
Seen a few threads on here where people say if you sand down and paint over you will prob have to do it again in a year?

I am only in West Malling near Maidstone, my cousin has a paint shop in Folkestone if you'd like to take it there and get a price for it all done?

not had anything done by him myself but been there recently and they have had a number of old 911's, a Ferrari 308 GTS, Maserati and a few E-Type Jag's along with many more, so worth a look I guess (at least if nothing more then for a quote).

I was going to have him do all the paint I want on my car but it's going to TGM for work anyway so whilst I am holiday I am thinking of paying them to do it so I am only without the car the once and not twice through the early part of the year as the weather (fingers crossed improves)

Cool mate as seems we are local (or local enough), as in my prev post not seen or had work done myself, seen finished items but not really that good at paint and seeing paint (whats good or bad) etc but worth a professional eye at least if you are not looking to spend £££'s

I got a quote from a classic car specialist to strip the arches back to the metal. They will then use a rust killer followed up with a stone chip then paint for £250 which is more like it as they are not exactly rotting to pieces.

That's very cheap mate, where are they based? I am still waiting for my cousin to get back to me about Saturday.

A chap in Sheerness did my DC2 rear quarter panels. Top job and cheap, want me to dig out his contact details?

I live in Leeds, but a local shop with a proper spary booth and oven have quoted me £600 to cut out the three spots of rust and weld in some fresh metal. Another place has offered £200 to patch it up, but that won't last long as I think it has already been patched up before.

I got quoted by one body shop £500 each side, that included new metal.
Mine is only minor so hoping getting back to bare metal them some Por15 will stop it coming back, he prays lol.

Will last a year if that and you will see it coming back, only way to get rid of rust is to cut it out, sanding down and using rust killer is a temporary fix. A lot of bigger body shops can't be bothered with the work so it's an easy way for them to make a few quid on you. If you want to keep the car get them cut out and get the body shop who is doing it to take plenty of photos. I learnt the hard way with this type of thing
