I have just bought a facelift type r and the guy said the switch in the dash is for the rear fog light but it doesnt do anything. I was just wondering how do we go about changing one of the reverse lights to a fog light how has everyone else done it?

Are you in the UK?

If so firstly check the drivers rear reverse light when turning that switch on, generally as Japanese cars do not have fog lights the drivers rear reverse light will be fitted with a red bulb to work as the fog light and so once you flick the switch that light should activate and when putting the car in reverse only 1 x light will come on (passengers side reverse light), this is as fog lights are placed on the driver's side or in the middle of the vehicle.

The only other alternative is the ones which are cut into the bumper or bolted behind/to the bumper and hang down.

If the above (drivers reverse light has not been split from the reverse setup and does not function by that switch) you will need to check both the fuses and the back of the switch for the wires to be connected/working, follow the wires and check the rear light loom for these to be connected and then check the rear bulb has been changed to a red one as if its clear still then it wont be a fog light bulb.

If it's not been done right then you will need to run wires from the mentioned light connection to a switch and done.

Hi yes i'm in the uk

We have looked but both reverae bulb are still white. At first only 1 worked but after taking the holder out and seating it back in they both now work.

So we just need tl figure out what that switch does bevause it lights up when we switch it on but cant see what it does.

It also has front fog lights on but the switch and wires haven't been installed for them .

Thanks for the help
So the switch is powered, I am wondering if when clicked does one of the reverse bulbs light up (drivers side)? if not then it was never wired to it and was just wired for power poss or an external fog light that is no more, but I would say it should be powering the drivers rear reverse bulb

Deff pop that panel off (very easy) and check the connections on the back, it's a simple process, these cars fall/pull apart easily :)

Okay thank you we will check that thank you.

It also has front fogs but we know they arent wired up to anything as the wires and switch are in a box in the boot. Do you know if they have to be wired to only be turn on if the sdie lights or any other lights are also turned on for them to be on? Instead of just on/off on the switch.

And how we would go about doing that?
