Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself as I recently decided I have some unfinished business and intend to get my hands on a facelift DC5 in the coming weeks. I sold my prefacelift EP3 around 4yrs ago as I landed a job which involved a 30 mile daily commute.

I then bought a 2008 BMW 320d e92 which I still have at the moment which despite my hatred for all things diesel, I can't really fault too much in all fairness. I have since changed jobs again and my work is now only 11 miles away, so don't really need the Beemer anymore.

Sure it's cheap transport but I really miss the character of my old CTR. Speaking of which, I have very fond memories of that car. I owned it for 6yrs and racked up 60k miles in it. However it had its flaws and I always wished I could afford to get a DC5 at the time, but by the time I could, my job kinda got in the way.

I was actually looking at maybe getting an e92 M3, but after thinking long and hard about it I just don't think it's a good idea. The running costs would be horrendous and I'd have to borrow a bit to get a good one. Plus it looks so similar to what I already have I think I'd get a bit bored with it. I miss working/servicing my own car and modifying them it with subtle upgrades to make it my own. I'd need very deep pockets to do that with an M3.

So that brings me to where I am now, looking at Integras once again. I went to view a couple the other week, a nice 2005 blue facelift and a 2005 white facelift. Both were very nice examples but I really took to the blue one. It's got nearly 80k on the clock but is completely rust free and the interior is immaculate. No bolster wear to speak of at all and the engine bay is almost like new. You know that giddy feeling when you really 'need' a car you go to look at? I got it. I got it really bad.

The BMW is going up for sale tonight. Hopefully it'll sell before someone else drives away in that blue one but nevertheless, there are quite a few nice lower mileage examples out there albeit blue seems quite rare for a facelift...let's wait and see.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, I will keep you posted.

Chris

Welcome and good luck in the searches

I like reading these threads, as most people having moved away from such a car and gone for the "grown up" cars coming back to them

Thanks Patch

I know what you mean. I often look at brand new cars and think they look smart, but somehow dull at the same time. I was gutted to sell my ep3 but thought it was time for something more sensible. It made sense at the time but my wife says the BMW doesn't suit me - she says I'm a boy racer trapped in an old mans car haha.

I'm one of them people. I hate the Skoda even though it's not far off the Integra for speed, it offers zero feedback and nothing to the driver. Miss everything about the DC5, can't wait till the day I finally get back into a Honda.

Chris - Yes the BMW is now up for sale on pistonheads.

Crazylegs - I feel your pain mate. Although the e92 is a cracking chassis to be honest, the handling at speed is really solid and it isn't all that bad for pace either. Mine has a BMW Power Kit which makes it drive more like a petrol than the standard 320d, which tends to run out of breath at 4k rpm. It's a good car but just want a high-revving vtec back in my life.

Dc5-2ltr - that's a lovely looking car mate, exactly the same colour that I'm after!

Yep, it was an ex demo with just over 2000kms..... 13 years on and I've only got 41000 miles on the clock

Dc5-2ltr - based on what you have said I'm guessing you aren't going to let it go, but would you consider selling it? Worth a shot haha.

Unfortunately not, I'll probably use my Teg as my coffin! Truly, there is nothing I'd rather have, it just ticks all the right boxes for me 😎

Hi guys,

Right so a little update as of today - I have now taken a deposit for the BMW! Just a week after it went up on pistonheads and it was the first person to view it. Now the ball is rolling and I'm going to be residing to my dads trusty winter hack, a 1999 Suzuki Swift, until I find a nice DC5 to buy. It's got no power steering, no abs and only 3 cylinders but it does have one bonus for a future DC5 owner - the indicators are on the right hand side so it gives me chance to get used to it. I'm sure I'll be waving my wipers at a fair few people in the meantime.

So if anybody knows of a clean, low mileage (and preferably unmolested) Integra that's up for grabs please let me know.

Cheers,
Chris

OK guys so I had a day off work today to go and buy a new sofa suite with the missus (she's been nagging me about it for ages). After having sorted that out in good time, I decided to call the guy who had the blue dc5 that I'd viewed a few weeks ago to see if I could have a test drive. He obliged and before I knew it I was bombing up the A1 in the trusty Swift - it actually goes quite well and I got a few snobby looks overtaking much newer, more powerful cars! Quite liberating really.

Anyway, I met my brother there and we had a good look around it. The car is very clean and tidy and has a tidy set of Rays alloys on it with AD08 tyres. Other than that it is bone std. We went for a test drive and it drove perfectly, so after a lot of poking around I decided to go for it and put down a deposit. He came down a bit on price so I think I've got a bit of a bargain really and he also agreed to get it undersealed before I pick it up. Got to wait until the weekend until I pick it up and I literally cannot wait!

Welcome back to the red badge crew.. I seen that dc5 lurking around on eBay a few months ago when it first got imported I think.. my brother and friend were both looking for facelifts too, and there was something about that one that put me off.. or maybe it was lack of info from seller, but price wise it was decent.. you got any plans for it?

Thanks Mikey. It's been sat in there a while but it's a really good example when you see it in the flesh. Literally spotless under the bonnet and the interior is in good condition too no bolster wear at all. They have a white one too but in my opinion it wasn't as clean as this and it was a bit more money. They specialise in much higher-end cars so these were tucked away in the corner. He seems like an honest guy and didn't try to push the sale, just left me with the keys and let me scrutinise it in my own time.

I managed to knock the price down on the basis that the front brakes need doing soon. Also the laquer on the calipers is peeling, so they are the first jobs. I have some HEL front brake lines left over from my EP3 but not sure if the DC5s are a different length/design. Any ideas?

Beyond that I'll want to kit it out with a decent double din unit and some seat covers. I'm sure in time I'll probably stick an intake on there and an exhaust but those can wait for the time being. It's going to be my daily throughout spring/summer so not going to go silly.
