Ulez tax and living in london

Hey guys, we had an information leaflet come through the post today about keeping London's air quality cleaner and how the mayor wants to charge us £12.50 to drive cars on the outskirts of inner London. Unfortunately I live right on the boarder where these charges are going to take place and for me to drive to work is going to cost £250 a month which I'm not having. Is there anyone else here on the forum that lives within the new boundaries? My teg is without a doubt the best most reliable car I have ever owned and i never ever thought of selling it but with these changes happening i don't think i am going to have a choice. Is there anyone else here on the same boat?

Ive typed my reg and other integra registrations in and it confirms that DC5's will have to pay the ulez fee, however the Fd2s ive put in are exempt

I think it's a case of the cars not being registered correctly. Worth contacting them and finding out as if a EP3 and FD2 are exempt a DC5 should be too.

At the moment i think the checker on the tfl website only calculates each vehicle based on first date of registration, If your vehicle register after 2006 then its exempt.

But yeah not good for people living in inner london boroughs

Would be interesting to see if these are exempt or not.. there's about 6 dc5s over in East London so don't feel alone :)

On the website, it says it is based on emissions..

Ep3: 215g/km
Fn2: 215g/km
S2k: 235g/km

All exempt but dc5 which is 225g/km isn't.. 🤔🤔

Can this be enough to argue?

Just checked my '06 out of curiosity and it states:

You are not subject to the ULEZ.
You do not need to take any action. However, other charges may apply.

Other charges
You may still be subject to the Congestion Charge

Disclaimer
The compliance status of your vehicle for the ULEZ has been calculated based on the information you provided. It is your responsibility to ensure the information you provide is accurate. Every effort is made to ensure that the information we provide you is correct at the date of our response. However, we provide no warranty as to the accuracy of the information and accept no legal liability or responsibility for its accuracy. If you are in any doubt over your vehicle's Euro emission standard, please refer to your vehicle registration document - also known as a V5C - or contact your vehicle manufacturer.

The ULEZ standards are:

Euro 3 for motorcycles, mopeds, motorised tricycles and quadricycles (L category)
Euro 4 for petrol cars, vans, minibuses and other specialist vehicles
Euro 6 for diesel cars, vans and minibuses and other specialist vehicles
Euro VI for lorries, buses and coaches and other specialist heavy vehicles

Enforcement of the ULEZ will be based on the declared emissions of the vehicle rather than the age. Generally speaking, petrol cars that meet the emissions standards are those registered after 2005. However cars that meet the ULEZ standards have been available since 2000.

For diesel vans the Euro 6 standard was mandated for all new vehicles sold from September 2016. Our compliance checker will allow you to check whether any second-hand vehicle purchased meets the ULEZ standard.

All depends how it's registered or year I think.

Mine was an 02 plate and wasn't exempt where as my mates 03 plate is. Same car, same engine just different year.

They are not all subject to it, the post earlier memtions an 06 not being affected.
I think its got to be down to how the cara are registered as i believe we all seem to pay different tax amounts dependant on the cars were registered which must habe some knock on effect.
My 2001 states i gotta pay which is crap.as i have family living just inside the boundary.
I suspect soon it will expand to cover the whole inner m25 which is when i will then sell up and get an electric car

Quick update, send tfl a scanned copy of your mot and v5 document if your car is coming up as having to pay the ulez charge and they will only update your car. I asked if they can change the database for all Dc5's and they said they could not and that every individual owner would have to register their own car.

What does mot have to do with ulez?

Emissions most likely, maybe this is a sneaky way of trying to find all those with full race exhausts with no cat? Either way thats the instructions they gave me and it took about a month for them to get back to me.

Cheers mate

Do you have a covering letter we can all use that you‘ve sent them by any chance? Maybe put the context of it on here as a comment with the above details to send it too

Thanks Carl
Ps not being lazy just think if it contains the necessary info as you‘ve had chats with them it‘d be easier for us all to send the same with out documents and any car details changed on it :)
