even though insurance in Ireland it terrible, the insurance costs dont bother me at all.

The only thing I dont like is how bad it takes the bumps on the bad roads, and believe me there are a lot of bad roads here. Its really frustratrating because it handles the corners so well but it is terrible on the bumps.

Is this at low speeds? and is your car lowered?

I don think its lowered. I presume its standard, just got it from japan and it defo doesn't look lowered. It happens at all speeds but generally its worse at low speeds (but might have something to do with the fact that the roads are worse in the towns and I generally drive slower there!!)

Yeah I know, just wish it was a little smoother. My civic was the exact same and so is the FTO but they didn't cost this much. Just afraid that all the bumps are wrecking the car because it sounds terrible when it hits them (ie everything rattles)

Hi, just seen this and must step in

The car is designed to run on Japanese Roads, which are a lot smoother :!: :!: Basically its designed for there market, not ours

If the DC5 made it to the UK the sus would be tuned to our roads, ie the spring and damping rates would be different, anti roll bars, bushes etc  It would also prob have fewer body stiffening struts etc added during the welding of the body shell

Don't blame the car

Oh, I dont blame the car, I know it was designed with proper roads in mind, its just that the roads are soooooooooooooooooooo bad here that sometimes its actually unbearable. I hate the way the Irish government can charge me €12000 between customs, vat and vrt on the price of my car and then the stupid roads wreck it. (I have a big thing a big thing about the shite roads here!!!!!)

What about the long term aspects of this on our roads? the roads in England and Scotland aren't really that bad unless you hit the pot holes.

the roads are bad in england!!!!

i find it a right pain in the arse with the 18s i got on my pug at the mo with the very low profile tyres (35's)

how low are the profile on the DC5 tyres? are they 45's??? hard suspension is what u expect from sports cars :D

I second that Andre, I will have to use it initially to get to and from work, 50 miles a day, then I can have a works lease car in 3 months with luck :!: :!:

Then it will become my weekend toy and track car

Ok, this is a little off putting for me.

The car will be used as an everyday car, so should I be looking at something else?

I use mine as an everyday car and when I am on a good road (ie a crap road in the UK) the car is brilliant, I dont think you understand what the roads are like here.

They are just after digging up all the roads to put down broadband and not every 30ft there is a manhole cover that is not level with the road. Instead of resurfasing the entire road they only resurfased the bits the bits they dug up and it is sooooooooooooo bumpy because they didn't use the proper machinery to press it down properly. This has been done over the last couple of months in EVERY county and they roads are cat now. But when I am on the motorway in Dublin the car is savage.

Dont let it turn you off. I can safely say that if I lived in the UK I would defo have one of them.

Its not that bad really, in comparison it handles the roads better than an EP3 IMHO, yes it is a tad hard but we are talking, a car that has been designed for smooth roads/track, with the emphasis on fun, not made for the masses, hence is not everyones cup of tea. Its not as hard as my OEM Elise, although the Elise does ride the bumps alot better.

The thing I hate is the steering wheel wayyyyyyyyy to large, its like driving a bus, definetly change that, everything else is excellent, very well built (espeacily compared to the EP3), looks the danglies, fantastic brakes, possibly a bit over servoed, great gearbox (god I miss that), solid power/torque, reasonable fuel economy.

Ah its not RWD, if it were, I think it would be the car for me.
