Just been on the phone playing the insurance lottery.

Do not believe how much difference in opinion and prices there are.

Some of the more specialist insurers " sorry that type of car is over 30 only" compared to an Internet based on that will happily insure my girlfriend at 24.

I think some of the prices are based on the time of day morning £900 lunchtime £1200 and evening £1700 etc...

Found on that charges you more for having upgraded brakes on the car, how does that work? The car will stop quicker but you want to charge me more

Think I have narrowed in down to 3 companies, now need to see how they feel about modifications.....

Rant over

Mate think about it... uprated brakes means faster stopping which also means you driving faster to start with..

As with any mod that will improve speed = you driving faster.. and improve looks = car more knickable..

your going to pay an arm and a leg for...

BTW why did you tell them you had uprated brakes.. are you changing your bembos??

Just cos you can stop more quickly does not mean the guy that is right behind you can :!:

Says the man that took a BMW 525 up the boot of his Primera on the M25 7 years ago  Shortened the car by nearly 2ft

Okay okay,

I never said I was going to upgrade brakes I was just making the point about the seeming lack of equality between different insurance companies for the same people driving the same car.

Why does one company only insure over 30 year olds and the other will happily insure a 24 year old - and no the one who will insure is no more expensive then the others.

I tried all combinations of ages, points and mods etc to see how the price is affected.

Ill second that, its bloody absurd the state of the insurance situation in this country. Just cos i am 23 does not mean i will want to crash my car for the fun of it.Or drive like a tit all over the place(well) or leave in dodgy area so it can get knicked.

And the worst part is that as im worried about my no claims i wont claim even if i have too! i have just spent a k on repairs after i had a slight off,,
the tossers. really gets my goat it does.

I'm an old bugger at 30 with 4 years no claims and my DC5 costs me more to insure than my Skyline GTR33 did. :?:

I spoke at length recently to a guy at A-Plan about the Teg when I was renuing insurance on the FTO. They managed to offer a real good price on the FTO (£470) which when you consider when I first got the car I was paying £1200! is great! I discussed the Teg insurance with them (it's currently with AON) and they said that their price wasnt much better than AON (AON = £890, A-Plan = £740) but as it's such a new car they'd not arranged any kinda 'special policies' for it as they have now done for the FTO. I am sure as time goes on and more flood into the country they'll begin to develop specific policies for it. The guy I spoke to seemed to think that within 6 months they'd have some new insurance deals available for the DC5.
