You need to hold it down for 5 secs, after the 5 seconds hold it up for a further 5 seconds. This should reset it to restore auto up/down.

5 door Type-S or 3 door Sport? The sport lights are the same as those found on an EP3, those found on a Type-S I believe are a different shape. No UKDM Civic came with xenons from the factory, but facelifted cars did come with projector units. I'd guess something is wrong with the holders or...
