As above, even when my box is fully warmed I have trouble with 2nd gear shifting above 3000 RPM. It feels notchy but doesn't grind. My clutch fluid has never been changed I don't think which is my next point of call. Car is on 72k and an 02.

Clutch? If not, it may need a new 2nd gear synchro, a few on here have had the same problem. When I was looking for mine I test drove one with the exact same issue, so I didn't buy it.

I think this is a very common issue. Have a search and there will be plenty of threads

Taking it to have a diagnosis. Possibly looking at a work syncro or worn shift slider for 1st and 2nd. Bit gutted but it'll be nice and fresh after it's done.

Just thought I'd update this, as it's confusing me a little.

I adjusted the clutch biting point this morning and it has made a bit of a difference only minimal.

I can shift below 3000RPM perfectly fine without any issues from 1st going into 2nd.

When I go above 3000 7/10 times it will feel notchy but it will not grind. But sometimes I can floor it, change at 6000 and it won't be as bad or won't be notchy at all. I can get the gear fine however it has the notch. It makes a clunk sound coming from the shifter area.

Would this still point towards a worn 2nd gear?

I'm also going to bleed the clutch later.

2nd update, no difference although the clutch biting point went a lot higher after bleeding. Still the same notch at 3000. :(
