Checked my vehicle V5 document and its in the 234 G/KM club :( so looked up the DVLA site and it actually says it should be 400 pounds a year, not 300!  .Something has to be wrong,my mate has a 03 plate evo 9 and his tax is like 185 pounds and it does 14 miles to the gallon, its just crazy!!
I could see on the bottom of the dvla site that it says that if there is any details wrong on the v5 to send details to a certain address,is there any way i can contest it?????
No way is my mate's evo less damaging to the enviroment,no way.Can i prove in any way that it does not produce 234 G/KM'S or am i fighting a loosing battle with Gordon SH@#ING Brown :?: :?:

Ok ok,stop rubbing it in guys,is there anything i can do about it :?: :?:
Well...... You could buy the DIN from a scrapped DC5, replace the one on yours after declaring it scrapped on the V5 and then reregistering it with the new DIN as PLG.

Its all veryyyyyyy dodgy.

How to i check what band im in(CO2 rating)??also how come im paying 300 pounds n not 200 odd nor 400 odd,are there three different bands????
TBH the £300 is a mystery to me... But look on your V5 (logbook), under section 4 it should state the vehicles CO2 (g/km). If it's 223 it's band F and if it's 234 it's band G.

So some DC5's are 223 and some 234? Whys that?

Is it facelift that are 223?

Because there are two model reports floating about. One says 223 the other 234.

Not 100% if they are for the pre and post facelift.

There is a way to get it changed from the 234 CO2 band to the 223 CO2 band as I have done it myself. I believe I am the only person to have actually done it. It took about 3 months and numerous letters to and from DVLA and Honda.

But it can be done.
The short version is you have to have a car with the newer ECU fitted.
Get Local Honda to tell their head office at slough that it is fitted with the newer ECU and they will send you a lettter confirming this.
You send that letter and your V5 to DVLA along with the 2 Model Reports that are available for the DC5 with the higher and lower readings on, and a covering letter and they will change it to the lower as long as your car has the newer ECU fitted.

Thats interesting to know... How can I tell what ECU I have? Or should I say what numbers am I looking for?!

Thanks
Chris :)
