Well Ive just bought my first dc5 more than happy with it. I had a good idea this isnt goin to be the best running dc5 out there but im more than happy to get it up to scratch so you lot may see me on ere a few more times lol. Anyway i heard an unusual whining noise while driving popped the bonnet and it sound like the something from the aux belt, not the girlfriend before u start lol anyway took the belt off and the sounds gone. Then went through the pulleys one by one and its clearly the a/c unit. the pulley is grinding away sounds ruff. So whats the best thing to do shorten the belt bypass the a/c, get a second hand a/c unit, or can you swap the pulley and clutch out on it own. Any help would be appreciated costs, how easy the swap is (the pulley and clutch not the unit as i wouldnt know where to start with degassing etc) and what belt if i shortened it, thanks.
A/C pump/pulley whinning noise :-(
