I bought an ipod alpine head unittoday too, but it has no bloody clock (that i can find) but saying that, i didnt have the correct ariel connection so it may be all done by RDS

If this is the case, just leave it on a strong radio station for a few minutes!!!

Pop down to Prestige car audio in Rickmansworth, ask for Andy or Chris tell them Simon from the DC5 forum sent you, they'll sort it no probs.

i figured it out thanks guys!!

very random way round it!! i went into tuner settings and turned auto clock on thinking that it might have to be in clock mode to change it. went back to the clock adjust setting and still couldnt get on it. so went back, turned auto clock off again, went back to clock adjust and it let me change it!!

very odd way of setting the head unit up in the first place but i managed!!

thanks for the responses!!

mine is the IDA-X001, the one with the little screen on it that shows the album artwork.

if thats the one you have then keep pressing view until it comes up!

Is that the one which doesnt have a CD player included, i was looking at that but couldnt see the point without a cd player! As i never had a changer, i've got the CDC 9881RB and i'm certain it hasnt got a clock

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately it says there's a 4-5 week waiting list for the product. :(

Halfords have them in stock, but charge an extra £100 on steroes.

I bought my alpine for £250, went online and found it for £150, so i rang them today and they are having it back tonight and giving me a full refund

i personally think its great, whoever owned my car in japan but a top end pioneer system in it, double din HU (which didnt work) and all 6 speakers.

I left the speakers in and just changed the HU and it sounds so much better, the quality of the mp3 playback from my ipod is alot better than CD. and as i dont own that many cds i decided i didnt need the player. you can always put a cd changer in the boot if you want!! you can use playlists and you can search by artist, album, gnre, song, just like your ipod. it really is full speed as well, you might as well be using the ipod.

The bluetooth handsfree is well worth it too, if you dont have one already. You can acces your call register and phonebook all through the head unit. it does take 5 minutes to update the phonebook on the headunit but you can still make a call from your phone and use the handsfree. i had to fiddle with the settings to get it to work, if when you get it it doesnt work let me know and i will tell you how i did it.

it looks really smart too, if i can get my camera working i will put some pictures up.

in my opinion its excellent for the money you are spending.

Thanks for the info xthumbup

How does the bluetooth kit fit - is there a separate microphone that you have to wire up? I assume it mutes the stereo and uses the car speakers for the sound?

Ta :D
