Im getting a sticky number plate for my Teg.

As most of you know it leaves a screw hole in the bumper about 10mm in diameter

Ive sent some pics to a local company that do plastic welding. He's quoted me £80 + VAT = £94

Seems a bit expensive for a 10mm hole?

What do you think?

Where's the sticky plate going? I just placed mine over the hole.

You cant tell there is a hole there.

Why don't you just cover the whole with the sticky plate

I wanted it on the side but £80 for a little hole, im thinking covering is a better option.

The Mrs has said Sikaflex it

Is your plate using legal size lettering?

i was thinking about this, i reckon it you popped in a couple of those DIY caps that you use on cupboards and the like to fill holes it'd look pretty decent and leave your options open...

if it was painted white dont reckon you'd even notice and you'd save a packet?

EDIT: this is what i mean (would need painting etc):

Plastic welding isn't really all that hard so yes I'd say your getting bent over!

Just use the sticky plate to cover the hole.

you could also live with having the hole their for a while, then when you want to get rid of the stone chips just get the whole bumper done and flush the hole

Cheers for the suggestions guys

Ive asked at halfords as they do repairs, i wasn't convinced about going to them but an independant company do the repairs. Need to give them a ring and i might ring chips away.

For now i think i'll leave the hole on view, it shouldn't be for long. Or i could mount a big spike into it!

Just got wait for my plate from Chris CC

Yer missus is on the ball!!! Assuming you've got a black DC5 from your Avatar, black silicon sealant will do the job. Nice and easy to get a flush finish & means you can always fit the old plate back on without too much fuss.

Got chips away ringing tomorrow, i'll see what his quote is and if its not in the price range im thinking i'll have a go at sealing it

Failing that, i'll put the plate over the hole :D
