The four red coloured buttons give the impression that it's an Alpine.

Is defo an alpine has what appears to be a large alpine logo deads centre, has their trademark buttoins, and the silver dial, what model however, your guess is as good as mine.

There is also a little box on the drives side above the clutch pedal.

Seems like there is a tweeter in the door, above the dash inside of the mirror?!?!
Is this a facelift thing?

no its an aftermarket thing yambo, they look like alpine tweeters aswell, so id say the car has had some ice put in at a shop in japan before you bought it.
