Bad Day DC5 Hunting :-(

Well headed off in hope of an 01 CW DC5 being my next motor,had my doubts though as the car had a top secret back bumper and a standard front bumper,we had the advantage of the owner telling us to look at it while he was away,WELL the back bumper looked :-& the 2 rear quarter panels had been filled,drivers back arch was like waves of florida!!Front bumper cracked,front splitter scuffed,over spray EVERYWHERE!! :shock:

All i can say is thank god i looked at it on a good day,dont worry nobody off here owns it,old man beside where i live has it,wish me better luck on the next one

jeez buyer beware thats a disgrace.
if you get a cash sale for your ctr would you not consider importing your own and save €€€€`s.
make him an offer on the back bumper and leave the car :wink:

Do you mean importing straight from japan greg,sounds complicated,dont know jap talk!!! :lol:

the current trend with these motors is to buy low grade auction or badly bumped ones from japan (who else but them adn the auction house will know the full extent of any damage) then fix them up with parts from over here.

standard parts are readily available, not just from honda but also from private sales and specialist tuning/race prep companies, for example what happens to the rest of the car that mr lotus man owns and only bought to transplant the engine???

there are plenty of dogs out there so as always be vigilant and dont just fall in love with the first car you see, the right one WILL come along

Try and check to see if car has auction documentation etc.

Like mike says there are loads of accident repair jobs etc etc making their way over with people doing cheap reapirs and making some money on them

Cheers guys,thats helpfull i'll ask for an aution report with the next one,well the girl came tonight and she's taking the CTR :cry: will miss my wee civic but i've had it a year and new one coming out wont help the value!!!

Well the only thing is,if a panel has been painted i'll know it cause i've friends in the panel beating business and i've learnt plenty what to look for,that car i seen tonight nearly put me off an integra,paint job was so dull,but when we eventually found an origional panel it was the perfect championship white

i would have wasted his time as he has already wasted your time,also the more you drive different dc5s the better you know what to look for when the realy good 1s come along

I was of the opinion Top Secret only made a front bumper for the dc5, not the back.

It was split 3 ways with black coming from under to half way up,maybe it was just a sticker on another manufacturers bumper,wasn't nice atall!! :?

i have to say if ever there was an ugly part on the dc2 and dc5 it is the back bumpers.

I like the standard DC5 back bumper,the one without the fog light built in though
