Boot struts

I've noticed when it has rained my boot won't stay open but when it's dry it's fine, has anyone had this issue?

my boot stayed open this morning with snow on it, surely the small bit of water on the boot wouldnt push it down

It's really strange but it does, it's fine when it's dry.

Doubtful, but it could be possible that water is getting into the bootlid?

Might be worth whipping the interior boot trim off and just checking for signs of water/rust...
