Camber is different on back wheels.

Even with my wheels that are on right now (buddy clubs) they are still clearly different if you look at them.

What can cause this to happen and is there anything i can do as a normal person to see what is wrong?
Is this a simple job to correct? Can it be taken to any mechanic or does it need to be someone who specialises in this sort of stuff?

If the car has adjustable camber arms at the top they can be fixed.
But if not it may be that a bush in the hub is worn on one side. Need to have a look and see if there is play in the bushes.

The old owner had a FRS done to the car so there might be adjustable camber arms on the car and i know what im looking for with those.

However, a worn bush on the hub.. what exactly is that and how would i find it?

What James is saying is right, I had a similar stance to that (on one side) I took it to TGM as I was getting new tyres and wanted the fast road set up checking (it was not handling great) upon inspection of the camber arms a worn bush was discovered, so in effect it was constantly changing camber. I had to get two new ones fitted.

Gonna get under my car tomorrow and have a look at these arms.

We have pot holes here that swallow corsa's, if i had went through one of them could this of caused a change in camber?

How long did the job take to complete?
also, if its just the camber that needs re-adjusted can any mechanic do it? Is adjusting a cars camber a normal service to find?

It is a fairly straight forward job, think it took Kenny at TGM around an hour to do both, then the fast road set up is required so factor in another hour after that.

Most performance places will do it.

In the how 2 section, I have done a quick write up on how I just upgraded my rear bushes to polyurethane. It's not a easy job if you don't have a press or a bench vice.

The hub also has slight camber adjustment on the special bolt if there aren't adjustable arms to work with, maybe one of them has come loose or needs adjusting.

Couldn't get under the car due to the weather today but my paperwork says unit8 did my frs and they used d2 rear camber kit which is an adjustable arm I believe.

Is a mechanic required to set both sides to the same amount of camber or can anyone do it?

Dare I say it but any tyre place with a laser alignment set up can do it. Most people can do it. Easy if u have the tools.

Ok, once ive got my 18's on ill be taking it along to a garage with them on the car (as long as the dont rub) and asking for them to be adjusted.

Think i would just get them to do it based on whatever side looks the best..

What should the % be on the back for a FRS?

We have laser kit in the workshop, but our race teams use a piece of fishing line and a lead weight in the pit garage. it is workably accurate if the opperator knows what they are looking at. its just a comparison of where you were to where you are now...in mm. ;) then overlaid onto the GPS lap layout and combined with sector times to try to improve by n'ths of a second.

For the road, as long as the basic geo is correct , then an odd half degree will not get you to Tesco more that 0.5 seconds quicker. :) its more important to get the toe and castor right , the camber isnt that important to a degree or so on the road and it will mostly influence tyre wear .

What side effects does negative camber on the front wheels?

Taking my car in to get sorted on Monday and thinking I'll get the fronts adjusted since the tyres stick out a lil bit.

Negative camber on the fronts wheels is a good thing, noticed how tilted formula 1 wheels are?
It helps to keep more of the tyre on the road when cornering but willsometimes slightly wear the inside edge a bit more although i've never really noticed it much.

Bringing back an old thread, but both mine and another DC5 owner both have this similar symptom.

For some reason the driver side rear tyre seems to stick out further, and the other owner has just had a FRSU and it's doing it.

I recently had -1.3 dialed into fronts and -1.4 on rears and car feels so much tighter on the road
