Car cover

Just bought v7mat old car cover. Has oil And general dirt on it. Got the oil off but can I wash it in the washing machine with normal clothing detergent?

I would have thought so, just stick it on a 30 degree wash.

Yes that's what I thought but it's waterproof and was worried that it may damage it?
Was going to wash it and then put it on the car to dry.

Just hand wash it in warm water then

Is their a special cleaning product for it I was wondering.

So I have just done this:

Washed the cover inside out on the car.

Then I took it off an washed the car.

Then I placed the cover back onto the car wet but the correct way up.

Lastly washed the outside of it.

I used a sponge with auto glym shampo and got the oil and cat paw prints off with engine machine cleaner.

rinsed off with the garden hose.

Is it bad to leave it on to dry in hot weather?
