Car Trouble

My car has just thrown it's hand in. I went into KwikFit today to have some tyres done, it was fine when it went in, they had it on the ramp and when I started the engine afterwards, the ECU & battery light were on and after moving off I saw that the speedo and odo weren't working. A little while later the ABS light came, then the SRS, then the engine cut out. When I go to start the engine, the alarm (Lazerline) just goes off.

This couldn't of happened at a better time, I'm booked in at System R for KPro and that tomorrow, looks like thats not happening :(

Help!

Possibly the alternator....

When mine went on the Seicento, the radio stopped working, then the hazard lights/indicators and one by one the electrical systems. Pulling off in 1st gear was a no no so had to pull off in second.

Car finally broke down 100m down from my uni house in the middle of an empty t-junction (luckily the roads where dead quite). Pushed home eventually wherre i proceeded to lock the car via alarm, after 30 secs then alarm would just go nuts util i disarmed it. Had to lock the doors via the key in the end

Called out the RAC and they prodded it about and said it was the alternator. There was enough 'juice' in the alternator in order for the starter motor to tick but not enough for anything to ctach or work.

Check around the laternator for any loose leads or stuff.

Oh get this, once found a cable unplugged but no-one had any idea what it was or what it did yet the car run perfectly before and after i plugged it back in. Oh the joys of simple cars :D

Anyway, check the alternator!

CTR one wont be any good Dan, unless it's a JDM one. Totally different output. Loads of money.

Do they use Denso alternators on the ITR like they do on the Acuras? I know in the US Acura used the good Denso stuff but for the Honda cars they use the cheaper stuff and many cars needed new alternators around 40K. Funny same company but cheap stuff on Accords and Civics , good stuff on the Acuras like CL, TL RL (Legend).

Woohooo, can i have a cookie for being right?

You could just get your alternator reconditioned, generally comes with a 12 month warrenty if you take ti to a specialist....

Sorry for the wait in reply, been away on holiday

The car was back on the road New Years Eve. I got a secondhand alternator from Tom @ TGM - great help & great service, thanks!
