so I done the gear oil for the first time today. was apparently done by previous owner at 145,000kms and car is just over 155,000kms now.

Is this a normal amount of build up on the sump plug??? i've never had magnetic ones so I'm a lil concerned

Looks about right to me to be honest. Gears wear no matter how careful you are unfortunately. They are only tiny filings.

I haven't ever really had much at all on my magnetic sump plug, but I change my oil every 2-3k.

glad to hear that is ok, i was worried there might be some damage!!!

i had never done gear oill in any car before and was told i should do it in the DC5 especially coz there is an aftermarket diff in it. So glad i have a magnetic plug though!!! Ordered one for engine oil as soon as i got in!!!

theres also another magnetic strip inside the box you cant get at unkless its in bits, if they were out of my engine id be more worried, but the box its not so uncommon, everytime you crunch a gear etc you cause a bit of damage

I lie, I don't change my gear oil every 2-3k. That's engine oil I change that often.

Didn't really read the title.
