Changing Tyre profile

I currently have inovit Tarmac 18" wheels with 215 x 40 x 18 tyres fitted, apart from altering the speedo reading slightly would there be any problems or detriment to handling if 215 x 35 x 18 tyres were fitted to the rims ?

I'm just wanting to know for future reference as my tyre of choice isn't made in 215 x 40 x 18

Any advice much appreciated.

1-rolling radius would change for the worse gearing is changed,
2-such a low tyre profile will lead to greater chances of wheel damage with potholes etc
3-look stooopid

You're better going up a size to 225/40 x 18, as that is closer to the standard rolling radius. That is unless you will have clearance issues.
