Converted clocks - Still limited to 118mph

My dc5 has been converted to mph (speedo and odometer) but it still has the Japanese speed limiter enabled. I always thought that when the car is converted the speed limiter is automatically removed because it is never actually reached. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

I have looked at the Apexi RSM which plugs into the ECU and takes it off but is there a cheaper option?

Sounds odd.
The convertor works for everybody else, so don't go buying anything else.

Where is the convertor wired in?
I'm not 100% sure but if it's only changing the signal to the clocks perhaps it should be changing the signal before the ECU?..

All I can think of and hope it helps.

Emil- why not give Andy a ring as i'm sure he knows better?
I never went above 110mph during my ownership so i wasnt aware of this.

Hi Alan, I pm'd Andy but I'll try calling him tomorrow.

I very rarely get close to that limiter but it's a little frustrating knowing its there. Also, if I decide to do any track days in the summer I would like it gone.

?????
its easy to fix normally, there is a huge amount of info available here if you look hard enough. ;)

firstly if you have just bought the car then ask the dealer, it has to be converted to mph for the sva test, but should also should be delimited at the same time, sometimes wiring connections fail if the car has been here for a few years, as they get corroded, so if its an old car i would start by checking the connections.

there are two usual locations for the convertor to be fitted,
-in the wiring loom on top of the gearbox under the airbox, near the speedo drive (usually converts to mph and delimits)
-behind the clocks themselves (usually just converts to mph) so thats whee id look.

fitted to the gearbox like this-

Not sorted yet. I cant seem to get in touch with Andy. I'm waiting for a reply from Hond-r on the delimiter they sell.

Thanks for everyone's help. I've sorted it!

This might help people in the same position. Here goes...
I spoke to Hond-R about their delimiter, they were very helpful. They told me that there will be a convertor wired in behind my clocks and I would need to remove this and fit a new one above the gearbox. When I got behind the clocks I saw there was a Speedm8 fitted by ncs-systems (as G Man mentioned above). This is a convertor/delimiter so I gave them a call. It turns out the wire for delimiting hadn't been attached so with their advice I ran a new wire into the convertor and connected to the white/green wire on the ECU. Job done!
