Just ordered a toda manifold :lol: whats all this biz about the joint cracking? will a torque damper protect against this?

Yes engine torque damper or stiffer engine mounts is highly recommended

Yes

No. One of the reasons they crack is due to the engine/gearbox assembly rotating from torque reaction under acceleration and on overrun. This stresses the manifold as one end of it is bolted to the head (which moves relative to the car), the other end is held by the mountings to the underbody and the rest of the exhaust (which doesn't move, or at least not as much). MMIs/ETDs reduce the movement of the engine/gearbox assembly which reduces the stress on the manifold. HTH?

Glad to help mate. Just had them fitted myself - some views in this thread. There are a few pros and cons, basically more responsiveness, less risk of cracking the mani, but more harshness. You pays your money...

There are a few opinion for engine mounts.

ES ones £25
Enjos £250 ish
Mugen £200 ish

Yes both the OEM and aftermarket (Spoon/Toda) have flexi joints.

OEM kit looks like this - it might not flow too well, but at least it's heavy...
