Stock pads are fine with road tyres.

Andre
Unless you are going to fit slicks or very trick track day tyres you will be able to do a whole season of track days plus hard road use without a worry.

I don't know anyone who has run Mugen so I can't comment.

The rears wearing out is not unusual. Quite why I haven't fathomed but because it was only on the one side I put it down to a compensator sticking. We greased the mechanism ,fitted new Civic EP3 road pads and they have'nt shown any signs of wear after 5 or six track days.(EP3s drop in)

On the fronts I'm running Pagid yellows and whilst they hurt a bit when you buy them (£160ish?) they've stayed in all year and there is a lot left yet. The manufactures reckon 12 racing hours on a kind circuit ( not Oulton or Donington GP) whereas others that I've tried can run out in 1.5- 2 hours at racing speeds. As they cost circa £80/100 I reckon that the Pagid are the great value. Lovely pedal and disc friendly, which is very important at £200 each!!

Hi Richard nice to see you using the board.

I am having Pagid's fitted to my Elise on Monday, and having driven a car with pagids, I recommend them, seem to be the pad of choice at the moment.

Hi Richard

Welcome to the board and Thanks for the valuable info.
Do you have the part no. of Pagid for the DC5 brakepad and know of anywhere I can order them from?

I've just ordered some parts from Steels, hopefully they will arrive in few weeks so I can pick them up and book my car in for its first service.

cheers,
andre

That's it? You are lucky, here in Japan the Ferodo stock pads cost like ¥45000. Most definitely I will be going aftermarket on the pads. Never heard of these Pagid pads, I was thinking most likely to go with the Mugen streets or something similar as I have no tracks here on Okinawa to play on :x

I have been looking at various websites, and am not sure which pads fit the Front Calipers on the DC5. Can anyone confirm wether or not they will take the same ones as the Mitsubishi Evo 5-8 wityh the Brembos. :?: ie EBC Part number DP31206 for Redstuff pads. If so then it'll be easier for me to get any pads as I just ask for the ones that fit the Evo's!!

Call Tom at TGMSport he will get any pads you like .. but I would suggest you give the Thawk pads a try ... Franz and myself use them for track and they are wicked mate... a little dusty but great stopping power and fairly cheap.. they are of a carbon Fibre material..

Anyway call tom and he can confirm sizes etc for you even if you dont want the Thawks

How are the Hawks as daily drivers??
I had Pagid RS14's in my DC2, and they were noisy, and a little too severe in slow moving traffic. :?

they bite very good on the track.. for the price..I cannot justify spending $500+ Canadian Dollars to get Project U , Endless CC-X brake pad! (around $200 CAD for hawk hp + )

If you're not tracking your car, jsut using it for the street, i wouldnt recommend HP + .. the noise level is very high if u tap on the brake.. really need to late brake and step hard.. then it wouldnt sound !

My DC2 was regularly used on the track, but as with my DC5 it will cover MANY more road miles than track miles!! :D

This is why I was considering Redstuff which were pretty good(not as good as PAGID) on the track, but were more civilised for street driving and cost less than half the price.

I spoke to Tom at TGM Sports, and he doesn't have any in stock, but he is checking with his supplier to see if he has anything coming in next week. :D
Another thing I forgot to ask u about the Hawk pads is how long they last?
i.e. How many track days have u done on them? How heavy on them were u on the day?

Living in Scotland, the only track that is easily accessible is Knockhill, and that is a killer on Brakes (& Tyres). There are two V Hard braking points on every lap. On one is on the main straight, into the first bend going from about 110MPH down to 60MPH, and the other is on the back straight, braking hard from just about 100MPH, down to near 40MPH for the hairpin. Bearing in mind a lap only takes about 1 1/4min, the brakes really get a doing after a few Hot Laps!!! I wore a set of EBC redstuff V1 pads on my DC2 down to the metal in two track days. Although this was the early JDM spec with 262mm discs, and smaller pads than even the UK spec or later JDM spec one. In the end I upgraded my DC2 with Prelude 2.2Vti callipers, so I could use Prelude 282mm discs & pads, which gave me better braking and pad life.
