Hi All,

Decided to try some quotes for a dc5 before mine arrives in the UK, only checked with Adrian Flux at the moment, and got a bit of a shock at £911!

Im 28, no points, no claims and 9 years no claims... should it be that high?! I know that area matters but wow!

don't use flux lol.

Try green light and a plan insurance. They have specialist departments for imports.

Avoid sky insurance too

Yeah don't use Adrian flux. I was with them before and they quoted me just over £1000 for the teg and I wasn't allowed to add any modifications either. Rang green light and they quoted me £500 with any modifications. So definitely worth ringing green light.

Defo worth shopping around dude, as above try greenlight, Keith Michael, a plan, there is a couple others too. Since your 28 you have more choice.

As with the comments above flux was actually cheaper than greenlight and sky for me with all mods declared too. Just shows you have to shop around.

You may get a high premium for the 1st year ... But defo go with specialists like Greenlight as they can quote and cover these cars properly

Have a try with Admiral, although it cost me a fair bit more than the likes of Adrian Flux, at least I get much better customer service (I hope haha)... have a read into horror stories of Highways Insurance, Equity Red Star (all used by Adrian Flux and other brokers...)

Cheers!

Will have a quick ring round tomorrow to get a better idea... nearly had a fit when they quoted 1300 to add the woman! (that's her age though I suppose).

Greenlight should be okay for me as they've insured a couple of my previous cars.. not heard of a plan or Keith Michael, but working for an insurance broker myself I know that its often just a broking name with the U/W actually writing the business.

Do greenlight offer like for like on mods? AF said that they wouldn't offer like for like just a 'market equivalent'...

In my experience, Admiral wanted silly money. (£750 for me, 30, 11 NCB, 0 points, low-risk postcode)

Greenlight were £399.50. I hope I never have to test their customer service tbh, but their pre-sales guys were good.

I've been with Sky for 4 years.. currently paying £450 FC on the DC5, mods declared. Funnily enough my daily EJ9 1.4 Civic is £400!! I'm 26, 8 years NCB, no points / claims if it matters.

Only issue I have with sky is paying £25 admin fee everytime you wanna change something mid policy, such as add a modification. Customer service isn't bad though in my experience.

I've been hugely put off when reading about the underwriters they use, to be honest though any insurance company tries to get out of a claim anyway...

Greenlight for me. I got a very competitive quote from Sainsburys believe it or not, so might be worth trying them. I did notice that if I called around with a month or more before start date, it was cheaper than say calling up tomorrow for it to start in a weeks time.

Yes we do offer like for like replacement on modified parts. We also do not charge extra to add mods to the policy mid year unless you go big on power.

If you wanted to drop me a PM with your contact number id be happy to get in touch personally to run you a quote, if you were with us before it wont take to long to run a quote as you will already be on our system.

Kind Regards
Neil

Yes if you have owned the vehicle for 12 months prior that will be fine to have it off the road from Jan-April

i had a slightly modified dc5 since january last year, i then swapped the policy to this supercharged one in June. so this should be fine as i have had an active dc5 policy fof 12 months?

i also had an s2000 at the same time on another policy

I'm with Keith Michaels. Have been for about 3 years now. I normally play the insurance companies off of each other (Sky, Adrian Flux and Keith Michaels)

My quote last year was £380

I'm 31, 14 years driving, 13 years no claims and an IN10 back in 2010. Garaged and mods declared. In a BS10 postcode. 10k miles a year. I've had the car 8 years next month though.

I'm getting a renewal in 5 weeks. Hopefully it will be less!
