Exhaust soot. Running rich??

I have a hks cat back system on my dc5, it has a layer of dark grey/ black soot on the inside of the tail pipe, i thought this was normal for an exhaust, but my dad said its not normal, it must be running rich. :?

Has your exhaust got this layer of soot, is he worrying me over nothing??

I've read most DC5's run rich in standard form.

I have a thin layer of soot over the back of my car with the decat on!

Hello bud yep perfectly normal, dont worry.

Most of it is caused by the Carbon Monoxide.

If you're running a de-cat, you'll notice even more! My DC2 had an almost permanent stain all round the bumper above the exhaust. :roll:
