Hi guys,

Having a couple of little issues with the car, they don't come up to often but I would like to get them sorted out so am seeking some advice.

Issue 1, sometimes when driving she pops out of second gear. It's quite rare but I feel like it's getting more common especially when putting my foot down.

Alongside that the gear shifter itself feels extremely loose, Having looked under the gator there is a little joint that is very wobbly?? But both when in gear and out of gear the shifter flaps around alot with minimal pressure on it.

Finally I'm getting a crunching when going into 6th, but this is very specifically when I am hooning it in 4th and then move straight into 6th,

Any advice much appreciated guys!

3-4 and 5-6 synchros probably need doing - maybe 1-2.... this means full gearbox open for inspection
get new clutch while you're at it. budget about £1300 for this

You should consider purchasing the delrin shifter bushes that have been on group purchase here on the forums. cheap fix for your shifter issues.

Hi mate, thanks for the response, I have recently had a new clutch fitted (about a year ago) so would hope not to need to do that again!

So to open up gearbox, may aswell change the lot, seals etc, how much is this likely to cost?

And what is are the derlin shifter bushes? As in what do they replace / where do they go?

I have the full set of these unfitted, are they actually that good as I don't feel mines got much play in it if any at all, is the installation that easy ?
Very easy to install.

My lever had lots of slack and one bush had completely perished so I was very happy with the results.

If your lever has no play then maybe you will notice no difference but could be worth having a look at the bushes condition on your linkage.

Thanks mate will have a look through the guide Wocka done as if mine are not that bad or worth changing I will just sell this set as I bought both group buys and have not opened any of them yet :-(

Take it to a specialist first, but as above...it sounds suspicious to my symptoms many years ago. gearbox and synchros, with hub assemblies. Don‘t just change the synchros as that‘s only half of the problem.

It‘s not cheap mind, but between £1300-1500 I‘d say is fair.

I paid that for a gearbox overall, with OEM parts. The hub assembly alone for 1-2nd gear was around £700 back in 2013/2014. I also had the clutch changed as labour is free. Although you‘ve had it changed in the last year, for the sake of another £200 I‘d get it changed again as the box is out. Wouldn‘t want to do all this work and then find next year your clutch starts wearing or something strange and the box has to be dropped down again. But if your willing to gamble that‘s up to you and your budget.

Assuming you‘ve tried a gearbox oil refresh first? Cheap and simple thing to do. But I‘d expect worst case. On the plus side, it will be a big selling point in the future as these cars get older more and more will eventually need the same treatment. It‘s a fantastic feeling having a non crunchy gear box even from cold. You‘ll not regret it.

Good advice from everyone. As I said on WhatsApp, if you can afford it I'd get a shorter final drive while you're at it.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was thinking it would be full gear box redo job but I will try the cheap stuff first, get the shifter bushes changed, get the gear linkage cables checked and adjusted and change the gear box oil. Then I'll have a think about when to have the whole thing properly redone. Better safe than sorry and just nice to know its all done and fresh!

Ive had the same issues.
I've literally just this second finished replacing my shifter bushes to tegiwa shifter bushes. https://www.tegiwaimports.com/tegiwa-shifter-bushes-integra-type-r-dc5.html

They have made a world of diffrence. Feels like a new gearbox. Nice crisp spring like gear changes. Occasionally mine would pop out of gear if proper ragging it. Sits in gear alot better now. My car also used to kangaroo at low speeds. This is alot less now aswell but will still need to replace throttle position sensor aswell.

I'd also change the shifter arm to the billet 1. I did this and it stiffened up the gear stick and leaves no play in it.

Hope this helps. Both are easy to fit yourself just watxh videos on YouTube that's all I did.
