Hi there,
After getting clutch replaced I have noticed a horrible knocking noise coming from the engine bay when changing down gears and pulling away from stand still.
Basically, when pulling away, it feels like the car is going to stall; it gives off that sort of sound too...
Also, when downshifting, then lifting up the clutch pedal slowly, the revs increase but I can hear a knocking noise until the revs are stable. Originally I thought it could have been the flywheel??
However, I took the car back to the garage and they insisted the issue is the gearbox mount? They say it has too much play and will need replaced.
Above are some picture of the mount in question, just behind the battery.
I spoke to a friend who said that the torque settings of the mount could be incorrect after the clutch replacement as this noise never occurred before. These are in the last 2 pictures. Apparently the bolts to the bulkhead are adjustable; I don't have a clue??
Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated!!
