Gearbox rebuilt... new clutch.... still not happy

After lots of time, effort and money, the gearbox has been rebuilt with new oem bearings and seals, new oem clutch fitted and my problem persists,

Firstly some of the problem has sorted itself from rebuilding etc. Grinding in neutral sorted! Lighter clutch with no whine sorted! But what hasn't been sorted is a terrible grind (sounds a lot like intake noise which I have decided it certainly isn't, checked for split pipes, even put the original airbox back on)

The noise is most prominent at low speeds in a high gear, can only be heard just after quarter throttle and intermittently makes it whilst coming off throttle as well, it's louder once warm as well.... Drivetrain is now out the question..... Any one?

I'm near Norwich... Had a mechanic next to my workplace do the rebuild, trust him and ways gone to him for work, plus had a nice opportunity to pop around and see how it was coming on...

Could try them, would be weird, had an annoying squeal for ages and ended up being that, had that sorted earlier in the year, it's only under load, I'm thinking possible engine mount? Read a lot about them giving up and engine rubbing against frame... Possibility?

manifold heat shield? mines made a grinding sound, in gear between 2-4k rpm immediately after opening the throttle till about half throttle.

Surely a manifold would be a rattling noise? this sounds like a metal on metal grind.... Worried it could be the chain... Although it doesn't rattle on start up...

Sounds starting doing it revving on drive. . Sounds like back of engine... So heat shield is coming off... Although I have a sneaky suspicion it could be the cat giving up! If I hadn't just spent a grand I wouldn't think twice and get a decent one lol

you could pop along to AP tuning in great witchingham, although they are evo specialists they also deal with dc5's, i know these guys well they are very competant , they also have a dyno so could run the car and look in the bay at the same time

Not sure if it relevant, but i had a similar issue with my Civic recently. Sounded like a weird rattle / grinding at about 3000 rpm. Thought it was gearbox related.
A few weeks later noticed it whilst idling. On investigation found it to be the heat shield around the Cat. Did a bit of research; turns out you can clamp it all back together with a couple of large Jubilee bands. Worked a treat.
Might not be the cause of your woes but easy enough to check.

Ahhh not to worry buddy.... Had the whole Honda heat shield woe early in its ownership, drive shaft, exhaust manifold and cat have all rattled at some point.... Cheers for the input though!
